Follow these instructions to compare two different versions of the organization (org) code hierarchy to view the effect of org code changes.
Compare Organization Code Hierarchies
Before You Start
- This functionality is only available to users with SU Org Hierarchy Requests (authorized budget officers) and SU Org Hierarchy Previewer (school/department system administrators and designated financial staff) authority.
- For the definition of different hierarchy statuses (e.g., Draft, In Review, Published, and Final), refer to the Data Dictionary.
- Users with Previewer authority can only compare hierarchies with Published or Final status.

- Enter ofweb.stanford.edu in the browser
- Select Login
- As prompted, log in using SUNet ID and password
- Select SU Inquiry Tools and Forms folder from the Oracle Financials Home page Navigator section
- Select Organization Code Hierarchy Tool from the list
- Select Org Code Hierarchy Views from the main menu
- Click Compare Hierarchies tab
- Select Hierarchy Version 1 from the drop-down list (e.g., 09/01/2023 (Draft))
- Select Hierarchy Version 2 from the drop-down list (e.g., 07/01/2023 (Final))
For the definition of different hierarchy statuses (e.g., Draft, In Review, Published, and Final), refer to the Data Dictionary.
- Select “Yes” or “No” to Include Inactive Orgs
- Click Compare
The hierarchy will display level 1 (AAOO-Stanford University) and all level 2 orgs.
- Select Expand All to view all levels of the hierarchy including orgs with no changes
- Select Expand Only Changes to highlight orgs within the hierarchy that have changed
The side-by-side hierarchy comparison will include new lines with dashes in the prior version to indicate moves and new orgs. Changes are highlighted and marked with an asterisk in both versions. Due to Firefox browser limitations, the color highlights are not displayed when using Firefox.
Click on an org to view Organization Code Details and to view the history of org code changes.
When comparing a hierarchy with Draft status to a hierarchy with Final status, budget officers will only see approved changes that they submitted. Approved org code moves that cross budget units will also be included.
Following review and approval by the University Budget Office (UBO), the In Review hierarchy status changes to Published and all hierarchy changes can be viewed by Budget Officer and Previewer roles, regardless of their org scope of authority.
- Select Collapse All to reset the view to level 1 (AAOO-Stanford University) and all level 2 orgs
- Authorized budget officers may request changes to the organization code hierarchy.
- Refer to the quarterly deadlines for submitting org code change requests to UBO and for an understanding of when approved org code changes will be implemented in university systems.
