Manage OBI Customizations

OBI Financial Reporting allows users to save and view dashboard reports with their favorite choices for selection criteria and customizations. By saving customizations, users need not make these choices manually each time they access the dashboard report.

  • Save Current Customization allows users to save a customization to be reused later for the same dashboard report.
  • Apply Saved Customization is used to apply a previously saved customization that was created for the current dashboard report.
  • Edit Saved Customizations is used to make a saved customization the default, rename it or delete it.
  • Clear My Customization refreshes the report to its default state, by clearing any saved selection criteria and customizations.

Save Current Customization in OBI

Multiple customizations for a specific dashboard report can be saved for later use.

  1. Go to OBI Financial Reporting
  2. Enter SUNet ID and password, if prompted

  1. Navigate to the Dashboards menu located in the toolbar
  2. Select the desired dashboard from the dropdown list

  1. Navigate to the desired report within the dashboard by either:
    • Selecting the desired report tab at the top, or
    • Selecting the link in the table located on the dashboard Home page

  1. Enter Selection Criteria
  2. Select Apply to generate report
  3. If available, select desired View By and Subtotal options 
  4. As desired, customize report by: 
    • moving, including and excluding columns
    • changing sorts and subtotals
    • collapsing sections

  1. Use the Gear Icon (in upper right hand corner) to display the Page Options menu and select Save Current Customization
  2. From the popup window: 
    • Enter a descriptive name for the current customization so that it can be retrieved later
    • Optionally, check the box “Make this my default for this page”  to automatically run this customization every time you open this dashboard report
    • Select OK to save
What Happens Next?
  • Access saved customizations will by hovering over Apply Saved Customization for the same dashboard report.
  • When a customization is set as the default, it will automatically apply each time the report is opened.

Apply Saved Customization in OBI

A customization is available to use only for the specific dashboard report it was saved against.

  1. Go to OBI Financial Reporting
  2. Enter SUNet ID and password, if prompted

  1. Navigate to the Dashboards menu located in the toolbar
  2. Select the desired dashboard from the dropdown list

  1. Navigate to the desired report within the dashboard by either:
    • Selecting the desired report tab at the top, or
    • Selecting the link in the table located on the dashboard Home page

  1. Use the Gear Icon (in upper right hand corner) and hover over Apply Saved Customization to display the list of saved customizations for the current report
  2. Select a customization to apply

The report will run with the saved selection criteria and customizations while pulling data available on the run date.

 

What Happens Next?

After the initial run, the selection criteria (e.g. dates) can be updated and additional customizations added to further revise the report.  Changing selection criteria will necessitate selecting the Apply button again.

Edit Saved Customizations in OBI

Customizations can be renamed, deleted, or set as a default to run every time a dashboard report is launched.

  1. Go to OBI Financial Reporting
  2. Enter SUNet ID and password, if prompted

  1. Navigate to the Dashboards menu located in the toolbar
  2. Select the desired dashboard from the dropdown list

  1. Navigate to the desired report within the dashboard by either:
    • Selecting the desired report tab at the top, or
    • Selecting the link in the table located on the dashboard Home page

  1. Use the Gear Icon (in upper right hand corner) to display Page Options menu.
  2. Select Edit Saved Customizations to display a list of all saved customizations for the  current report
  3. From the popup window edit your customizations
Edit Customization Name
  • Select the box that displays the customization name and edit name
Specify Default Customization
  • Select the radio button to make it the default customization for this page

This will make it automatically run every time you open this dashboard report.

  • If it is not desired to have a default customization run upon opening, select No Personal Customizations as the default
Delete Saved Customization
  • Choose the customization to delete by selecting the name to highlight it
  • Select the X above the table of customizations on the right side to delete the customization
  1. Select OK to save and close the popup window.

Selecting Cancel will prevent any changes, including deletions, from taking effect.

What Happens Next?

Updates can be verified by clicking on Apply Saved Customizations

Clear My Customization in OBI

This will refresh the report to its default state, by clearing any saved selection criteria and customizations.

  1. Go to OBI Financial Reporting
  2. Enter SUNet ID and password, if prompted

  1. Navigate to the Dashboards menu located in the toolbar
  2. Select the desired dashboard from the dropdown list

  1. Navigate to the desired report within the dashboard by either:
    • Selecting the desired report tab at the top, or
    • Selecting the link in the table located on the dashboard Home page

  1. Customize report or apply saved customization

  1. Use the Gear Icon (in upper right corner) and select Clear My Customization
What Happens Next?

Refreshes the report to its default state, by clearing any saved selection criteria and customizations.
