Faculty Financial Inquiry Tool (FFIT)

Faculty Financial Inquiry Tool (FFIT) is a web-based tool that allows Stanford faculty and staff to view financial information about their accounts and transaction details. The tool displays data from the perspective of either a faculty member's portfolio (project, task or award owner) or from the perspective of an organization (project, task or award owned by an organization).

FFIT calculates current, projected, and forecasted balances for each account using budget, revenue, expenditure, and commitment data. FFIT can also include “what-if” information from the Commitment Management System (CMS)

The Organization Financial Inquiry Tool (OFIT) section provides similar information for funds managed by organizations.

Simple interface

Displays account and fund balances in a consolidated view, showing all accounts on a single screen.

Transaction analysis

Users can drill to view details of commitments, expenditures, revenues, and transfers. Data can be exported to Excel for further analysis.

Accurate and timely data

The system updates nightly from Stanford's financial systems to maintain current information.

To view a specific researcher's accounts, an administrator must be granted a scope of:

  • A specific researcher's name or org codes, or
  • All Projects and Tasks, or
  • All Awards

Once in FFIT, your home page will consist of the Individual Accounts of researcher PTAs based on your authority grant.

The Organizational Accounts page displays organizationally owned Non-Sponsored accounts where the Principal Owner value for a Project, Task and/or Award account segment is generic: CHAIR, COACH, DEAN, DIRECTOR, DIVISION CHIEF, PRESIDENT, PROGRAM DIRECTOR and/or PROVOST.

Access is granted using the Financial System > Shared Applications & Non-OBI Reporting > Salary View (Award) OR Salary View (Project-Task) privileges in Authority Manager.

To view Non-Sponsored PTAs owned by a specific Organization, an administrator must be granted a scope of:

  • All Projects and Tasks, or
  • All Awards for the related Org code

Access OFIT by going to ffit.stanford.edu and selecting the Organizational Accounts option on the left menu.
