The Stanford Travel team is looking forward to a new year full of possibilities! A small, but mighty crew with over 75 years of combined travel industry experience, this team focuses on providing high-quality support for Stanford travelers.

To ensure high levels of customer service, the team works closely with Stanford Travel's multiple booking channels, develops partnerships with preferred suppliers, and collaborates with campus partners (Financial Support Center, Card Services, Business Expense, and Global Risk Management) on a variety of services to support Stanford travelers and travel arrangers.

Coming This Spring: New Stanford Travel Booking Channel

After a successful pilot with a few departments, we are excited to launch our newest booking channel, Key Travel, in Spring 2023. Key Travel is the world’s largest travel management company specializing in the humanitarian and academic sectors.

2023 Hotel Program Provides Discounts at Local Hotels

The Stanford Travel team has negotiated discounts at over 25 hotels in Palo Alto and the vicinity for individuals traveling on university business. Stanford Travel offers discounted rates at properties including The Westin, Sheraton Palo Alto, Hotel Citrine, and more. Bookings at the discounted rate can be made through the Stanford Travel booking channels.

Recent updates from Stanford Travel include a new promotion with Delta Airlines to provide free Wi-Fi, a new partnership between United Airlines and Emirates, proposed biometric screening at airports, and a spotlight on a local hotel with special discounts for Stanford Travelers.

In Case You Missed It

  • Stanford Travel is partnering with Alaska Airlines to provide MVP or MVP Gold status for Mileage Plan members in California who book two or more round trips on qualifying flights. Promotion ends March 31, 2023.
  • Reasonable actual expenses will now be reimbursed for airport transportation, and car service guidance and reimbursement has also been updated. Learn more about these changes to the ground transportation policy.
  • The deadline to obtain a REAL ID for domestic travel has been extended to May 2025 by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
  • Use the eReceipts app on your mobile device to easily capture, upload and share images of business and travel-related receipts with transaction preparers or verifiers.
  • A Stanford visitor must submit receipts for expenses of $75 or more to receive reimbursement. Previously, guidance stated that receipts of any amount were required, but this has been updated to be consistent with the policy for Stanford travelers.
