Authority Manager is the system used to assign financial system and reporting authority privileges. This how-to provides instructions for using Authority Manager to view authority assignments for yourself, other individuals or an entire organization.

Other methods of viewing authority assignments include Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) Authority Reports and the Financial Approval Authority Query Tool.

You need a Stanford University ID (SUNet ID) and password to access Authority Manager. Access to Authority Manager provides the ability to view anyone's authority.

  1. Enter authority.stanford.edu in the browser From the Stanford website, you can also enter authority in your web address bar.
  2. Select Login
  3. Log in using your SUNet ID and password

The display defaults to your current authority (My Authority - Current Authority).

  1. View your current authority organized by Business Function (e.g., Enterprise Reporting, Financial System) and Privilege (e.g., Financial Reporting, Self Service, Approvals)
  2. As desired, use the tabs at the top of the page to select Recently Revoked Authority or Proxy Settings (authorization to act on someone else’s behalf for a specified period of time) If you feel that your authority has been revoked in error, review your Recently Revoked Authority and note the name(s) of your Authority Grantors. Contact them to request that your authority be restored.
  3. Select the Organization link above a particular privilege to view all authority assignments granted in your organization

  4. Select the employee's name from the search results

The display defaults to their current authority.

  2. Enter the Org name or four-character org code in the Search fieldUsing the Org Code is an easier, more reliable search. 
    Additional Information: You can browse the Organizational Hierarchy to view authority assignments by selecting the parent org at the top of the screen. From the results of that parent, you can continue to "climb the organization hierarchy" by selecting the next parent.
  3. Select the organization from the search results to display all authority assignments for that organization

View Organization authority assignments by Business Function (e.g., Enterprise Reporting, Financial System) and Privilege (e.g., Financial Reporting, Self Service, Approvals)Individuals who have a checkmark in the Grantable column can grant specified authority to others. If no one is available to grant at the org level selected, select the link below the org name to move to the next higher org level.
  2. Select a person to view their individual authority assignments (Current, Recently Revoked or Proxy Settings)
