"Cash on Hand" for Your Student
Most students incur incidental expenses, in addition to the fees associated with their education. To facilitate having "cash on hand" for these incidentals, Stanford offers a debit card plan, called the StanfordCardPlan, which is a stored value plan encoded on your student’s Stanford ID card. Once the plan is activated by applying funds, your student can use his or her University ID card to make purchases at the bookstore, the campus convenience store, use the library copy machines, dine at the commercial campus eateries and pay for meals at all dining facilities on campus, etc, allowing your student to carry less cash. The StanfordCardPlan is the most convenient method for ensuring that students have the funds they need for incidentals.
It's easy for you or your student to put "cash" on the StanfordCardPlan, either through one of the many "cash to card" terminals around campus or electronically via Stanford ePay.
